Daily Tariff: Understanding Bhutan’s Tourism Policy
Bhutan follows a unique tourism policy of "High Value, Low Impact" to preserve its culture, environment, and way of life. As part of this approach, visitors are required to pay a Daily Tariff, which includes various services to ensure a seamless and enriching travel experience.
What Does the Daily Tariff Include?
The Daily Tariff is a comprehensive package that covers:
- Accommodation: Comfortable stays in 3-star hotels (upgrades to higher categories are available at an additional cost).
- Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner featuring local and international cuisines.
- Guided Tours: Services of a licensed Bhutanese guide for cultural tours and trekking.
- Transport: Private vehicle with a driver for all internal travel.
- Entry Fees: Admission to museums, monuments, and national parks.
Current Daily Tariff Rates
The rates may vary based on the season:
- Peak Season (March, April, May, September, October, November): $250 per person per day
- Off-Season (January, February, June, July, August, December): $200 per person per day
Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)
As part of the Daily Tariff, visitors contribute to the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of $100 per day. This fee supports Bhutan’s environmental conservation, free healthcare, and education initiatives.
Why the Daily Tariff?
The Daily Tariff reflects Bhutan’s commitment to sustainable tourism by:
- Limiting the number of visitors to protect its pristine environment.
- Ensuring that tourism benefits local communities.
- Offering visitors an all-inclusive experience without hidden costs.
- Plan your trip to Bhutan with confidence, knowing that every dollar spent contributes to preserving the magic of this Himalayan kingdom.
Visa Fee
- A one-time visa fee of $40 USD applies to all international travelers.
- Visa processing is arranged by us and is confirmed upon full payment of your travel package.
